‘Steve was a pleasure to have around’
The Daily Mirror shared the amazing story this week of how Steve moved himself away from homelessness for good with help from Standing Tall.

Ben was Steve’s Amici Host and was really important to helping Steve along the way.
Ben posted the message below on Facebook:
‘This is Steve, he stayed in my house as a lodger last year as part of Standing Tall helping people who have been made homeless back into work and independence.
If you become an Amici Host you get paid the standard room for rent amount through the company. This provides stability for 6 months while giving the tenant the opportunity to adjust back into a normal routine and save for their own deposit.
As part of this, the Amici Host has monthly meetings with the lodger to assess the progress being made and help them prepare for the next step. The organisation is always there to assist if there are any issues.
My experience was without issue and Steve was a pleasure to have around.
He was just happy to be out of the hostels which gave him the space and focus to make active changes. I'm sharing this for anyone else looking to help out the community.. and get a bit of extra cash for those energy bills!’
